Joining Keenspot

Back in early February, I was contacted by Keenspot and asked if I had any interest in joining their network. For those who are unaware, Keenspot is a comic hosting network which has, in the past, delivered some of my favorite webcomics, such as RPG World, Adventurers, The Class Menagerie, and many more. Receiving this offer was a surprise. When I first began Twokinds back in 2003 on what was then known as Keenspace, being accepting into Keenspot was something I greatly desired. It was, in my mind, the holy grail for an amateur webcomic artist like myself. In September of 2005, I actually sent an application, in the hopes of being accepted. I never heard back from them.

But now, they are the ones sending an application to me. And though many of my favorite comics on their network has since left or ended, a small part of me still feels giddy at the prospect of being a member. At the same time, though, I am anxious. 6 years has passed. I have been independent for a long time, and to suddenly become part of a larger collective again makes me feel uneasy. Joining Keenspot would mean making my readers have to put up with a change, and as I'm well aware, no one likes change. But it would also mean a tremendous benefit for the comic in the long run - more pages coming out every week, more books being published, and more content in general appearing now that I can focus solely on Twokinds rather than my part-time job.

In the end, I finally made the decision: I will take a risk and join Keenspot, at least for a year or two, and see how things go from there. What does this mean for you guys? Things will get moved around a little, as web pages shift and designs shuffle. You may notice a few more annoying ad boxes here and there, though I've done my best to make sure there were as unobtrusive as possible. 2kinds.com and twokindscomic.com will continue to work, just redirecting to the new web pages. The forums will stay where they are, at their current domain. So there's no need to change bookmarks if you don't want to. I will try to make the transition as smooth as possible.

I want to give a big thanks to AJ, the person who has been manning my servers for the last couple of years. He's been a tremendous help to me in maintaining the archive scripts and forums. It's thanks to him that the website has run as well as it has, despite the crummy 1&1 servers I've currently been suffering with. He will continue to provide support for the forums and the new archives at Keenspot. A second thanks goes out to Turaiel, who worked with me to write and program the new website. He took my scribbled designs and converted it into clean working code. I really couldn't have done it without his help.

If nothing blows up, the move will officially take place on Friday, March 11th, 2011. As always, I appreciate all of your support, and hope you will put up with any problems we might run into in the near future. I'll see you guys on the other side.

Still Sick

I'm still being plagued by this illness. Unfortunately, it's preventing me from working for long periods of time, and makes it very difficult for me to finish my work. And this time, I don't have any more backup pages. I'm afraid this Wednesday's comic will have to be pushed back. I apologize for the slight delay. Once I have recovered, rest assured I will continue to churn out extra comics as expediently as I can manage.

Comic Update

Here's a regular update. Sorry for not having any bonuses this week, I've been sick with the flu. Fun times were not had. Thankfully, though, I had this regular update prepared ahead of time, so it wasn't too much of a problem getting it out. I'm feeling much better now, so hopefully next week I'll be bringing out more bonuses. I'll try my best.

Another Bonus Comic + Shout Out

Here's another bonus comic. I'm slowly catching up on my backlog of pages due, and I have several done in advanced. So expect a serious push of extra pages in the next few weeks. Enjoy! Also, a big shout out to aj, a guy who helped me out a lot with the website's technical stuff, especially with the servers. If it weren't for him, the website would be much slower than it is today. If you'd like, you can visit his deviantart page here: http://kyl191.deviantart.com/ Thanks again for the support!

New Twitter Account

You can find the Twokinds Twitter here.

I've decided it's high time I starting participating in some of these newfangled social networking things, if only to stay better connected with my audience. So, I've started updating my twitter account. From there, I will announce everything I post publicly to the internet, from any of my sites. So, if you happen to have a twitter account, following mine would probably be a good way to always be informed whenever I make an update, or post some new art someone you might not happen to know about. I hope you enjoy this new feature! I will keep it up-to-date as diligently as I possibly can.

Midterm Exam delays

As it happens, exams for every one of my courses has landed on this Tuesday and Wednesday. As a result, I have had to focus my attention on study rather than drawing. I have the next several pages written and sketched. If I could only find some time inbetween medical classes to finish them, I would bring them out. But for now, I will need to update late Thursday instead of Wednesday. Thank you for your patiences.

Bonus Comics and Plugging Yosh!

Just a little note about the bonus comics: I am amassing a large amount of extra pages that I can then update in quick succession on a regular scedule. It's taken me a while - I was not expecting to have nearly so many that would need to be caught up on! Please stand by until next week, when I can begin updating faster.

On a seperate note, Our good friends over at Yosh! are in a bit of a bind after some medical bills put him behind on expenses recently. If you were considering donating to me, consider him instead. He needs it much more than I do at the moment, and I'm sure it would mean a lot to him. Thank you. :)

New Comics Coming

New comics are coming out. I'm doing my best to catch up to orders, so expect new pages to appear more frequently, outside of my regular Wednesday schedule. I can't say exactly when they'll be, so just keep an eye out. I'm aiming for two or three pages each week, so hopefully I'll pay back all the backlog of bonus comics within the next two months or so. Enjoy the extra deluge of pages.

Happy Birthday to Me!

I hope everyone is having a fine July 28th. Today happens to be the day I was born on, 23 years ago. Jeez, twenty-three... I mean, when you're 21 you're still considered pretty young, and 22 is nothing special, but once a person reaches 23+... well, I don't relish the idea of being considered an 'adult' by anyone. I certainly don't feel like it, but it seems like I keep getting older despite myself. Hard to believe I was just a wee lad of 16 when I wrote the first pages of this comic. Now here we are seven years later. I never imagined it.

In any case, much of my day will probably involve a lot of celebratory carryings-ons. As a result, the comic may be a little late. But don't think that I am slacking just because it's my birthday. I'm still working on the next pages. In fact, my brother bought me Starcraft II as an early birthday gift, and I've been resisting the urge to play it all day. I hope you realize what a sacrifice I, as a Korean, am making for you. ;)

Happy 4th of July

I hope you all had a good holiday this weekend, for those of you in the US of A. For those of you outside the US, I hope you all had a good weekend in general. For me, this holiday holds somewhat of a different meaning. It marks the second year since my father passed away. I almost can't believe it's been so long. I still think about things I wish I could tell him from time to time. He was always a very important figure in my life, and provided a lot of encouragement for me when it came to my artwork, and life in general. I paid a visit to his grave over the holiday - it was nice to spend some time reflecting on the past, sometimes it's too easy to forget. In any case, just thought I'd put more of my personal thoughts into these posts. Thanks for reading.

Wait, it's Wednesday?!

Arg, I got so caught up in my finals projects for animation, I forgot what day it was and didn't think to draw up the next comic until it was too late. I drew up this sketch in about ten minutes and stuck it on the website to tide you guys over until I can work on it in earnest. I'm sorry about the unprofessional nature of the update. I try my best not to let things like this happen. Once my classes are over I'll ink and color this one. I hope the sketch will be enough to satisfy you until then.

New Store and FAQ Section

I've made a couple of new additions for the website. If you haven't noticed yet, I've added a new store section to the website, which offers mostly print materials for sale, including a booklet and posters of all my work. Check it out if you'd like. I have also been working on coming up with an FAQ section for the website. I can't tell you how many times I've had to answer the same questions over and over about the comic or the website, and I've been meaning to do it for a long time. I still haven't decided where I'll have it posted up, but in the mean time, you can find it here: New FAQ section!

I'm not really sure how well the new prints section will work out at the moment. It's just a trial run for now. Making comics and panels into prints shouldn't be too difficult, but if it becomes too unmanageable, I may have to rework it or remove it. So, consider it just a temporary addition until I can learn more. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions, please let me know through my email.
